LyricX Terms of Use

Welcome to LyricX! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LyricX website, application, and services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by SeatSignal, LLC. ("LyricX," "we," "us," or "our").

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

1. Description of Service

LyricX is a web application that provides Christian lyric analysis of Apple Music playlists and songs to evaluate musical content based on a framework of moral and Christian values. The Service integrates with third-party APIs, including but not limited to Apple Music, LrcLib (or other lyric providers), and Google Gemini, to retrieve playlist data, fetch lyrics, and perform content analysis.

Our features include:

  • Connecting to your Apple Music account to analyze your personal library.
  • A Christian lyric analysis system that rates lyrical content.
  • Curated charts and discovery tools to find music that aligns with your values.
  • A personal dashboard to review analyses of your playlists, artists, and songs.

You acknowledge that the Service is intended as a supplementary tool to aid in personal music choices and is not a definitive or absolute theological authority.

2. User Accounts and Eligibility

  • Eligibility: You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.
  • Account Creation: To access most features of the Service, you must create a LyricX account and authorize access to your Apple Music account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process.
  • Account Responsibility: You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service relies on data and services provided by third parties. You acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Apple Music: To use the core functionality of LyricX, you must have a valid Apple Music subscription. By connecting your Apple Music account, you grant us permission to access your library, playlists, and listening history in accordance with the Apple Music API terms and our Privacy Policy. Your use of Apple Music is governed by Apple's own terms and conditions.
  • Lyric Providers (e.g., LrcLib): Song lyrics are sourced from third-party services. We do not own, create, or verify the accuracy of these lyrics. Lyrics are the copyrighted property of their respective owners (e.g., songwriters, publishers). Availability and accuracy of lyrics are not guaranteed.
  • Google Gemini (AI Analysis): The moral and value-based analysis is generated by a large language model (Google Gemini). You understand that:
    • The analysis is automated and algorithmically generated.
    • It may contain inaccuracies, errors, or biases.
    • Interpretations of lyrical content are inherently subjective and may not align with your personal, theological, or denominational perspective.
    • The ratings and analyses provided are for informational purposes only and should be used as a guide, not as a definitive judgment.

LyricX is not responsible or liable for any third-party services, their content, or their practices.

4. License to Use the Service

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to access the source code of the Service or its underlying components, including the AI models.
  • Use any automated system to access the Service in a manner that sends more request messages to our servers than a human can reasonably produce in the same period.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our express written consent.

6. Intellectual Property

  • Our Content: All rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including its "look and feel," logos, trademarks, and the proprietary analysis, ratings, and data generated by our system (excluding Third-Party Content), are and will remain the exclusive property of LyricX and its licensors.
  • Your Content: You retain ownership of your personal data, such as your playlist names and structure. By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, modify, and display this data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.
  • Third-Party Content: All third-party content, including but not limited to song lyrics, album art, and song titles, is the property of its respective owners.

7. Subscription and Fees (If Applicable)

LyricX may offer certain features or tiers of service for a fee. Should we introduce paid subscriptions:

  • Billing: We will bill you through an online billing account for use of paid services. You agree to pay all charges at the prices then in effect for your subscription.
  • Recurring Billing: Subscriptions may be set to automatically renew. You authorize us to charge your chosen payment method for the renewal term.
  • Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. The cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by discontinuing use of the Service or using an available account deletion feature.

9. Disclaimers of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LYRICX DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

SPECIFICALLY, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, RELIABLE, ERROR-FREE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.
  • THE AI-POWERED ANALYSIS WILL ACCURATELY REFLECT THE TRUE MEANING, INTENT, OR MORAL CONTENT OF ANY SONG.
  • THE RATINGS WILL ALIGN WITH ALL INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP INTERPRETATIONS OF MORAL OR CHRISTIAN VALUES.
  • THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS.

You are solely responsible for your listening choices. LyricX is a tool for discernment, not a substitute for it.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL LYRICX, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LyricX and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from: (i) your use of and access to the Service; (ii) your violation of any term of these Terms; or (iii) your violation of any third-party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide you with notice, such as by sending an email or displaying a prominent notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
